Q: What is Lip Blush?

A: Lip Blush is a natural lip enhancement for shape, symmetry, & colour. Each treatment is customised in colour to add definition to your lips & conceal imperfections. Results look very vibrant at first but soften as they heal to become a very subtle, natural looking lip tint.

Q: Is the treatment painful?

A: The level of pain felt varies from person to person but most clients describe the feeling as just a scratchy feeling & that it is bearable.

Q: What if I am prone to cold sores?

A: If you are prone to cold sores, lip blush can cause outbreaks. We suggest our clients take an anti-viral medication a few days prior to their appointment and after the procedure to prevent any cold sores. If you have an outbreak, or any other type of scratch/acne we ask that you reschedule your appointment.

Q: How old do I have to be to get Lip Blush?

A: You must be 18 years or older.

Q: How long do results last?

A: Results last 2 – 3 years. Some clients may get longer out of their Lips but I recommend a touch up every 12-18 months to get best results.

Factors that contribute to fading include skin type, sun exposure, exercise, professional skin treatments like chemical peels & laser. Home facial care products that contain AHA’S, retintols & vitamin A can also cause your Lips to fade more quickly.

Q: How many appointments are needed?

A: A Lip Blush Treatment consists of a minimum of two appointments, 6-8 weeks apart. A touch-up appointment is included in the cost of your Lip Blush Treatment.

Q: How will I look after my appointment? What can be expected during the healing process?

A: In the first few days following the treatment, pigment will appear bright & vibrant. Redness & swelling is rare, however can be experienced by some. The pigment will start to appear lighter in the first week. After the initial bright phase of the healing process some will find their lips become patchy as the top layer sheds off. Many of my clients who strictly adhere to my aftercare advice do not even notice the shedding phase however. Once the shedding phase is complete the colour can appear lighter or as if it has gone, but the colour develops over the next week or two. After two weeks your lips will be mostly healed, however they can take another week or two after that to settle in properly & for the true results to appear. Any areas that may have healed lighter or any uneven areas are corrected at the touch-up appointment.

Contraindications:

As a precaution, I do not perform Lip Blush Treatments if any of the below apply:

  • Pregnant/Breastfeeding*
  • Cancer
  • Certain Blood Thinners
  • Diabetes
  • Roaccutane

*If you are breastfeeding, the treatment can be done if you do not breastfeed for 48 hours following the procedure whilst expressing & discarding breast milk in this time.

Things to note before your appointment:

If you have a holiday booked, it is recommended to have your lips done at least 21 days before you set off on your trip. Sun exposure, especially whilst healing, can be detrimental to the pigment having good retention. You also shouldn’t get them wet for at least 7 days after your appointment.

Cease taking any blood thinning medications/vitamins 72 hours prior to your appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen.

Do not drink any alcohol the day of your appointment as this thins your blood.

If you have been on Roaccutane, you should wait at least 6 months after finishing your course before having this treatment done.

Lip Blush Treatments cannot be done if your lip area is sunburnt. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, you will lose the pigment.
